11-year-old Brexialee Torres killed in Syracuse drive-by shooting while carrying milk

The victim of a drive-by shooting that occurred on Monday night in Syracuse has been identified as a young girl of 11 years old who was purchasing milk at a store.

According to a source within law enforcement and social media posts made by the girl’s relatives, the girl’s name is Brexialee Torres.

Brexialee was shot on her way home at 7:43 p.m. after purchasing a gallon of milk at the Food King shop on Oakwood Avenue and Martin Luther King East. The business is directly across from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School.

According to the statements made by Syracuse Police Chief Joe Cecile on Monday evening at the scene of the incident, a car drew up to the junction, and someone inside the vehicle began firing rounds at a 19-year-old man who was standing outside.

According to Lieutenant Matthew Malinowski, a spokesperson for the Syracuse Police Department, Brexialee was shot in the abdomen before being rushed to Upstate University Hospital, where she later passed away.

According to him, the 19-year-old victim had been shot in the leg before being taken to the hospital. It is anticipated that he will live. Cecile stated that it seemed as though he was the intended target of the shot.

According to Cecile, police believe the Brexialee lived within a few blocks from the shop. Behind the police crime tape, the gallon of milk she was carrying could be seen spilt on the ground.

From a safe distance, neighbours and family members observed the detectives as they worked at the crime scene. As the terrible news was conveyed to the family during the night, there were screams and cries heard throughout the house.

Family members were led by officers at the scene through the tape that was surrounding the crime scene and into an apartment that was just a few feet away from where the murder took place. In the street, there were at least five evidence markers that were placed.
