13-year-old was shot on Cokey Road in Rocky Mount

The boy was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries and released.

Rocky Mount, N.C. – On January 28th, 2023, at approximately 10:27 p.m. Officers responded to multiple shots fired calls and a Shotspotter alert in the 1400 block of Cokey Road.

While investigating the shots fired calls, Officers were notified by UNC Nash Hospital that a juvenile was taken to their facility with a gunshot wound. Officers spoke with a 13 year old male victim who stated that he was walking in the area of Cokey Road when he was shot.

The victim was treated and released with non life threatening injuries.

Officers located shell casings on Cokey Road and damage to an apartment in the 100 block of Parrish Court (Cokey Road Apartments).

The apartment was occupied by three juveniles and one adult, no one was injured inside the apartment.
