14-year-old and a 13-year-old boy were arrested in connection to the killing of Jack Snyder

The 14-year-old boy is being charged as an adult, according to the Calhoun County District Court.

At 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the Battle Creek Police Department has planned to release an update regarding the tragic shooting of a Battle Creek Central student.

As per the authorities, a 14-year-old boy from Battle Creek and a 13-year-old boy were taken into custody in connection with the murder of 17-year-old Jack Snyder.

The Calhoun County District Court has decided to charge the 14-year-old as an adult.

Snyder’s body was discovered on Friday at around 12:10 a.m. lying face down beside his automobile on the street.

Although emergency responders tried to resuscitate Snyder, they were unable to do so, and the authorities declared him deceased at the site of the incident.

Subsequently, on Sunday at roughly 2 a.m., the Battle Creek Police Department detained the 14-year-old boy in a parked car in the vicinity of Jackson Street and Bedford Road, where the gun utilized in the deadly attack was also discovered.

He was then transported to the Calhoun County Youth Center. On the same day, the 13-year-old boy arrived at the Battle Creek Police Department with a guardian at around 5 p.m. and was subsequently admitted to the Calhoun County Youth Center.

Following the unfortunate event, a memorial has been erected at the intersection of Battle Creek Avenue and Capital SW.

At 1 p.m. on Tuesday, there is a scheduled hearing for the boys.
