15-year-old Cornelius McGee shot and killed in Clarksdale, Mississippi
No arrests have been made, MBI said.

On Monday afternoon, a 15-year-old was tragically killed by a gunshot in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Clarksdale Police received a report of a burglary in the 1200 block of West Second Street at 4:30 that day.
The incident occurred at the residence of a former Clarksdale Police officer.
Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement discovered a male juvenile with a gunshot wound in a nearby yard.
Tragically, he was later pronounced dead.
The teenager was identified as Cornelius McGee by his mother.
According to McGee’s mother, he had a relationship with the daughter of a man residing at the address, who disapproved of their connection.
It is alleged that the shooting occurred due to McGee’s presence at the residence, although police have not verified this information.
As per McGee’s mother, her son was shot in the back while attempting to flee the house and climbing over a neighbor’s fence.
The investigation into the shooting is being conducted by the MBI, and they have not disclosed a motive for the incident.
As of now, no arrests have been made, according to the MBI. We contacted Clarksdale Mayor Chuck Espy for a statement, and he mentioned that a town hall meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at 5:30 PM at the Civic Auditorium.
This incident adds to a series of violent incidents in the small town.
In a previous incident, which occurred early Sunday, 14 individuals were shot following a dispute at a concert that escalated onto Delta Avenue.
