16-year-old Trinity Backus has been found deceased
The body, belonging to Nevada County resident Trinity Backus, was discovered near her aunt Ashley Bjorklund’s residence on Kentucky Ravine Road

Trinity Backus was last seen Wednesday night at approximately 10:30 p.m. leaving a residence in the 18000 block of Kentucky Ravine Road.

Shortly after 2pm today, search and rescue teams located Trinity, unfortunately she was deceased. Trinity was located approximately 1/2 mile north of the residence she was last seen at in a very heavily wooded river drainage area.
Trinity Backus’s body was found in a highly forested river drainage north of her aunt Ashley Bjorklund’s Kentucky Ravine Road home, where she had been staying Wednesday night.
Backus, a star basketball player at Nevada Union High School, was staying at Bjorklund’s house with a friend when she went missing.
At this point there is nothing suspicious and her cause of death is unknown. Coroners division will be conducting a full investigation, including an autopsy.
Nevada County Sheriff’s Office have been in communication with the family and extend deepest condolences to them as they work through this loss. They ask that you please respect their privacy.
