2 people shot at Gurdwara Sacramento Sikh Society, Suspect at large
The second individual involved in the fight then returned fire at the first man and fled the scene.

Authorities have reported that on Sunday afternoon, two individuals were shot at a Sikh temple located in the Vineyard area of Sacramento County.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. at the Gurdwara Sacramento Sikh Society, situated on Bradshaw Road’s 7600 block, according to Sgt. Amar Gandhi, a spokesperson for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
Gandhi explained that a physical altercation broke out between two men on the temple premises, during which one of the men shot a friend of the other participant.
The second individual involved in the fight then returned fire at the first man and fled the scene. Gandhi further noted that law enforcement is still searching for the second man.
When asked whether there was a present danger in the vicinity, Gandhi responded that the situation “seems to be very contained.” He expressed his regret about the shooting, saying, “It puts a small stain on this peaceful, very joyous day.”
The two individuals who were injured in the incident were transported to the Kaiser Permanente hospital in south Sacramento, where their injuries were deemed non-life-threatening.
At approximately 3:30 p.m., law enforcement officers were witnessed leading two men out of the parade in handcuffs, but it remained unclear if they were involved in the shooting.
The men were then placed into separate patrol vehicles from the Sheriff’s Office as a crowd of onlookers watched in near silence, with many recording the events on their phones. Deputies were expected to stay at the scene throughout the evening to review witness accounts and cellphone footage.
As part of the Nagar Kirtan celebrations, the society hosted a parade on Sunday. Bradshaw Road, Vintage Park Drive, Elk Grove Florin Road, and Gerber Road were all closed by county officials to accommodate the procession, which was set to continue until 5 p.m.
By shortly before 4 p.m., hundreds of festival attendees were gradually departing, while numerous deputies and a sheriff’s helicopter were urging people to vacate the area.
Some individuals who had participated in the festival stayed back to savor jalebi, a well-liked dessert in India and Pakistan.
