Gregory Itzin, Character Actor Who Played Villainous President on ‘24,’ Dies at 74

The popular FOX television program 24’s executive producer and director, Jon Cassar, confirmed the information on Twitter.

He said “My friend Greg Itzin passed away today.He was one of the most talented actors I had the honor to work with, but more than that he was an all around great guy. He’ll be missed by his 24 family who had nothing but love & respect for him. You made your mark, now Rest In Peace friend”

On the television show 24, Gregory portrayed Charles Logan, a nefarious politician who eventually became President of the United Stars. Gregory made his first appearance as Charles Logan in season 4.

Gregory was nominated for two Emmys and a SAG Award thanks to the role he played, and the ensemble he was a member of was also acknowledged for their work.

After 24 ended, Gregory went on to star in a number of other successful television programs, such as The Mentalist, Mob City, and NCIS, an episode of which he appeared in as a special guest in early 2020.

He was also recognized for his work on the stage and received a nomination for a Tony Award in 1994 for his performance in the play The Kentucky Cycle.

Gregory’s acting career got its start in the late 1970s on television, when he appeared in a wide variety of shows, including Charlie’s Angels, Judging Amy, Friends, and Star Trek, among others.

Gregory is survived by his wife, Judie, and their adult children Wilke and Julia.
