28-year-old Humberto Marin Garcia killed in a shooting on the Stevenson Expressway

His pregnant wife, who was in the car with him, was not shot, but taken to a hospital as a precaution.

According to the Illinois State Police, a shooting took place on Thursday at approximately 9:30 p.m. on the Stevenson Expressway near Ashland, resulting in the death of a man and hospitalization of his pregnant wife.

The victim’s gray SUV was struck on the driver’s side rear window, causing the vehicle to come to a stop on the right side of the expressway.

The man, identified as 28-year-old Humberto Marin Garcia by the medical examiner, was declared dead.

The woman, who was six months pregnant, did not sustain any gunshot wounds but was taken to St. Anthony Hospital as a safety measure.

For a few hours, the expressway was closed at Damen Avenue to facilitate an investigation but was reopened prior to the start of the morning rush.

The details regarding the events leading up to the shooting remain unclear, and no suspects have been apprehended.
