Family identifies 33-year-old Doug Davidson Jr. as the victim in Sunday’s fatal domestic violence shooting in Pace. He leaves behind three boys — ages 13, 11 and 2.
Chloe Davidson, who is 32 years old, is accused of First-Degree Felony Homicide as well as a Weapons Offense of Second-Degree Felony. At 4:45 in the morning, she was taken into custody by the Santa Rosa County Jail, and she is currently being held without bond.
Approximately 1:40 in the morning on Sunday, deputies from Santa Rosa County responded to a shooting call at a residence located in the 3900 block of Deerwood Circle in Pace.
Deputy sheriffs arrived on the scene to discover a man who had been shot. The victim was evaluated by deputies and emergency medical services, but it was determined that he would not survive.
Davidson was held at the house and taken into custody.
According to the sheriff’s office, the shooting happened because of a fight between family members. No information about how Davidson knew the victim has been made public yet.
Since Davidson is a former cadet with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, her booking photo is exempt from being released to the public.
Davidson did not pass the field training program, as confirmed by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, which indicates that Davidson was in the process of training to become a deputy. At this point, thirty days had passed from the time when she was last employed by the division.
There was no further information provided. An investigation is ongoing.
