5 killed including state security chief, in helicopter crash in Mexico

During a news conference, the governor of Aguascalientes, Maria Teresa Jiménez, stated that the state public security helicopter suffered a crash early on Thursday morning near a hospital in Jess Mara, Aguascalientes. The crash resulted in the deaths of five people, including the state security chief Porfirio Sánchez Mendoza.
Jiménez stated that initial information indicated that the collision may have been an accident.
Sánchez Mendoza was taken into custody in February after the office of the federal Attorney General initiated a case against him for alleged acts of torture. However, he was freed seven months later due to a lack of evidence and was able to return to his employment after being cleared of the charges.
