74-year-old Oakley woman killed man in self-defense

Police in Oakley are saying that a deadly shooting of a 51-year-old man may have been in self-defense. He had a history of violence against a 74-year-old woman.

A woman shot and killed a man early Friday morning in Oakley in what police are calling self-defense.
At 12:39 a.m., officers responded to a report of a 51-year-old man shot in the 200 block of West Cypress Road.
A man was found in the driveway of a home and later died from injuries he suffered at the scene, police said. The man’s name has not been released.
Police said investigators detained three people at the home, including a 74-year-old woman with an elder abuse restraining order against the man because of a history of physical violence. The man allegedly became more violent toward the woman, so she shot him in self-defense.
The woman in question was not taken into custody by police. Oakley police are asking anyone with information about the case to call them at (925) 625-8855 or (925) 625-8060.
