17-year-old critically injured in Norfolk due to a shooting that led to the custody of an 11-year-old

The investigation is ongoing.

After a shooting on Sunday evening in Norfolk that left a 17-year-old critically injured, an 11-year-old was taken into custody by the police.

Upon responding to the incident at the 400 block of Nicholson Street at around 6 p.m., officers found the injured victim who was later taken to a nearby hospital where he remains in critical condition.

At the scene, the police apprehended an 11-year-old boy who has now been charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a juvenile.

In response to an inquiry by FOX3, Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney Ramin Fatehi provided a statement.

“This is an extremely serious case with an extremely serious set of facts…. I’m confident the court will order an evaluation of the child to determine if they’re mature enough to stand trial.”

Currently, no additional details have been made public regarding this case, and the investigation is still in progress.
