According to the Lafayette Police Department, at approximately 2:30 p.m. on August 20, two people were involved in a physical fight within the Mall of Acadiana, which resulted in a handgun being discharged. According to the officials, one male victim sustained gunshot wounds and was taken to a nearby hospital.
According to the police, the offender managed to elude capture before the authorities arrived at the shopping center. Criminal investigation division detectives are now conducting interviews with witnesses and gathering information at the scene of the crime. The investigation is still going on at this time.
