Active Shooter incident in Cass County, Michigan

According to Sheriff Richard J. Behnke, around 8:45 a.m. on July 26, 2022, in Cass County, Michigan, his agency dealt with a shooting incident that began in Calvin Twp. and finished in Penn Twp.
According to the inquiry, a 46-year-old Calvin Township resident stopped his car at the intersection of Calvin Center Road and Brownsville Street.
The individual then got out of his car and started firing actively at nearby vehicles and objects.
The suspect got back into his car and was traveling north on Calvin Center Rd when witnesses contacted 911.
The witnesses kept giving details on the suspicious car and its path of travel. At the Dollar General in Vandalia, where the suspect pulled in and parked, deputies found the car and the suspect. In the parking lot, the suspect got out of his car and pointed a revolver at the deputies.
The suspect and Deputies engaged in a brief altercation before the suspect was taken into custody.
At the site, the Cassopolis Police Department provided assistance to the deputies.
The suspect’s identity will not be revealed until his anticipated arraignment in Cass County’s fourth district court on Wednesday, July 27, 2022.
