A man is dead after several shots were fired inside the food court at the Mall at Prince George’s, police say.

Hyattsville Police confirm a shooting death at the Mall at Prince George’s around 4:00 p.m. The victim was an adult male who was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers do not believe this was a random act. The Mall and surrounding areas are secure.

City of Hyattsville Police Department said they are responding to reports of shots fired at the Mall at Prince George’s on the 3500 block of East-West Hwy.
The mall is currently closed and has been evacuated. Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and attempting to identify a suspect or suspects.
A witness informed Brad Bell that she was shopping for her child at the mall school when the incident occurred. She reported that she witnessed a stampede and panicked because her husband was in the food court at the time.
Twitter user, Christine Brejcha said I just arrived at the mall to pick up a new package from store that was stolen from my door to be met with a parking lot shooting. Two young people are dead. I am shaken, honestly, and no one can leave the parking lot, and the stores closed down”.
According to authorities, there is no suspect in custody at this time.
The Yellow and Green Lines will be delayed in both directions owing to the mall police investigation. The tracks between Prince George’s Plaza and College Park, Maryland, are single-tracked.
