Air Traffic Control received reports from two aircrafts they saw a meteorite west of McAllen

While the point of impact is unknown, no damage has been reported in the vicinity.

Hidalgo County Sheriff Eddie Guerra provided an update saying two aircraft reported sighting a meteorite to Houston Air Traffic Control in the west of McAllen, but the precise location of impact is unclear.

No reports have been received indicating any damage in that vicinity.

There have been reports of a loud blast in the Mission-area, and various agencies are investigating the incident.

The Alton Police Chief, Jonathan Flores, confirmed that they felt the blast, but the cause of the incident is currently unknown.

Multiple cities have received similar reports, according to Flores, who said that the situation appears to be widespread.

The Mission police are also aware of the reports and have requested air support from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
