All criminal charges against actor Alec Baldwin over fatal ‘Rust’ shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins dropped

Sources informed FOX3 that the criminal charges against Alec Baldwin related to the deadly shooting that occurred on the set of his film “Rust” have been dismissed.

Charges of involuntary manslaughter were brought against Baldwin, who is 65 years old, for the fatal shooting of Halyna Hutchins, a 45-year-old cinematographer, on the set of a Western movie in New Mexico on October 21, 2021.

Baldwin was using a prop pistol for a scene, which unintentionally discharged a real bullet. Despite pleading not guilty to the charges, which were brought by the Santa Fe district attorney, Baldwin maintained his innocence throughout the legal proceedings.

Baldwin’s attorneys, Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro, released a statement to FOX3 expressing their satisfaction with the dismissal of the case against their client.

They also called for a thorough investigation into the details surrounding the tragic accident, which resulted in the injury of Rust director Joel Souza, in addition to Halyna Hutchins’ death.

The filming of the movie is set to continue in Montana this week.

Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the former armorer for the movie, who was also charged with involuntary manslaughter along with Baldwin, is still facing legal charges related to the shooting.

The Santa Fe District Attorney’s Office spokesperson did not provide any comment immediately in response to FOX3’s request.
