Two people were hospitalized after a severe explosion in an Illinois residence.

At 5:39 p.m. this evening Wabash County 911 received a call of a house explosion on N 2360 Blvd. Allendale Fire was dispatched along with several other Emergency Services in Wabash County. Two residents were home at the time of the incident and were flown to a Louisville Ky. trauma center.
A group of neighbors pulled one victim from the residence before the residence was completely engulfed in flames. AFPD has called in the Illinois State Fire Marshall to investigate the incident.
On Friday, neighbors acted valiantly to assist with the rescue of the inhabitants, who were then taken by helicopter to a hospital located outside of the Allendale area.
The enormous explosion that tore the house into pieces also caused the destruction of two other buildings.
The explosion caused the home and two outbuildings to be completely destroyed.
The Wabash County Sheriff’s Office has verified that the explosion at the house resulted in solely the injuries sustained by the two individuals.
The current condition of the injured is unknown.
We ask that the public avoid this area as it is very congested as emergency crews are still on site and will be for quite some time.
