Body apparently found in lake outside SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, authorities say

On Wednesday, law enforcement officials appeared to have discovered a body in the lake located outside of SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.

According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, firefighters were sent to the stadium at approximately six in the morning after receiving information that someone had jumped into the man-made body of water in Inglewood and had not reappeared following the jump.

Dive teams searched the lake for several hours using sonar technology, and in the end, they were successful in recovering the body of a man who officials estimated to be 45 years old.

The motivation for the man to leap into the lake is unknown, according to Mayor James Butts of Inglewood, who spoke on Wednesday afternoon. Butts noted that it “sort of” appeared like the man “didn’t know how to swim” on the security video that was shown.

This person intentionally entered the property, entered the lake, and as a result, Butts stated, he experienced some distress and trouble. Therefore, I don’t believe SoFi could have done anything to stop this.

The lake is 5.5 acres in size, 15 feet deep, and can contain up to 11 million gallons of water. It is situated directly south of the stadium.

According to reports, it was built to collect rainwater for the stadium’s landscaping.
