Brackenridge Police Chief Justin McIntyre was shot and killed near 6th Ave in Brackenridge.
According to sources speaking to FOX3, a shooting in Brackenridge resulted in the death of one police officer and the injury of another.
Update: Police say the suspect is 28-year-old Aaron Lamont Swan. Sources say he was killed in a shootout with police in Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood.
There is a significant police presence in the area of Brushton Avenue in Homewood, which is reportedly the location where police officers shot and killed Swan. Since Sunday night, law police had been hunting for Swan because he was sought for violating his probation with guns. The violations occurred while he was on probation.
On Sunday night, state police stated they observed him on Route 28 close to Cheswick, but he had already left. He led law enforcement on a chase on Monday morning before being discovered by Brackenridge police at around 4 o’clock in the 800 block of 3rd St. He then led police on a foot pursuit while firing rounds at them.
On Monday in the Allegheny County borough, law enforcement is now on the scene near the intersection of 6th Avenue and Morgan Street. According to many sources, Brackenridge Police Chief Justin McIntyre, who had held his position as chief since 2018, was the officer who was killed in the confrontation with the suspect.
According to the sources, he was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident, while the other officer was wounded in the leg.
Governor-elect Josh Shapiro released a statement mourning McIntire, saying:
Today’s tragedy in Brackenridge is a devastating reminder of the bravery of those who put their lives on the line every day to protect us. Police Chief Justin McIntire ran towards danger to keep Pennsylvanians safe — and he made the ultimate sacrifice in service to community.
Chief McIntire and his family are in my prayers, as is his fellow officer who was injured in the line of duty tonight. May Chief McIntire’s memory be a blessing.
According to the sources, the suspect, McIntyre, and another cop got into a fight on Monday, and during the fight, they fired their guns at one other. According to additional sources, the suspect, who was injured during the gunfight, stole a vehicle, and the authorities are currently seeking for him.

The vehicle that the suspect was driving is a silver 2014 Subaru Legacy with the registration plate GMA8620, and the police have issued a “be on the lookout” notice for it. The suspect at large.
In 2018, McIntire was promoted to the position of chief after beginning his law enforcement career as a patrol officer and then serving as a sergeant.
