A suspect in a shooting that occurred on New Year’s Eve has been charged with Attempted Murder.

RUCH, Ore. – The suspect in yesterday’s rural Jacksonville shooting was lodged in the Jackson County Jail last night. The suspect, Cassie Lyn Ryker, 70, of Ruch, has been charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault, and unlawful use of a weapon.

This case is active and ongoing with detectives following additional leads.

Detectives Investigating Rural Jacksonville Shooting

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred Saturday, December 31 in the 400 block of China Gulch Road in rural Jacksonville. The suspect is in custody, the victim has been transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.

At 12:20 p.m. ECSO dispatch received a call for a gunshot victim being transported to the hospital and a potentially armed suspect back at the location of the shooting. JCSO Patrol deputies, SWAT, and the Crisis Negotiations Team (CNT) responded to the address along with nearby Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers. Just after 1 p.m. the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
