An 11-year-old girl who was involved in an ATV hit-and-run collision that claimed the life of her best friend and left her on life support for four days has passed away.

Jacob Martinez, 12, and Christina “Tina” Bird were camping out in Apple Valley, California over the Fourth of July holiday.

On July 2, as they were both riding on the same ATV at the campground, another ATV struck them, totaling the vehicle and killing Jacob.

After suffering terrible injuries, including several shattered bones and a severed spinal cord, Christina was taken to the hospital. According to her uncle Ernie Nunez’s post on Facebook, she was pronounced dead at 8:50 a.m. local time at the Loma Linda University Medical Center.

He posted the following message on the GoFundMe website that he had established for Felica Nunez, Christina’s mother: “The doctors completed their final tests today to determine if there is any life in Tina.” The findings were not encouraging.

Tina now has her own set of wings and may fly to Heaven to be with her grandparents, where she will no longer experience any agony.
