Lester Jones and Traci-Marie Jones died in a suspected murder-suicide

Bethel woman had restraining order against man accused of killing her in murder-suicide, records show

On January 31, 2023 at approximately 11:49PM, the Bethel Police Department received a call regarding yelling coming from the area of Reservoir Street. Upon arrival, Officers located a male and a female inside of a Reservoir Street residence suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Officers began treating the parties, however, the female was ultimately pronounced dead at the residence.

The male was taken to Danbury Hospital where he was also pronounced dead.

Traci-Marie Jones, 52, was the victim of a homicide and Lester Jones, 58, died by suicide, the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said Wednesday.

The woman who was killed in a murder-suicide on Tuesday night had a restraining order against the guy who officials say killed her inside a home on Reservoir Street.

The two were married in 1999, according to the records, and public records connect both of them to the residence on Reservoir Street where the shootings took place at 10:50 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the police.

According to the documents, Traci-Marie Jones secured a restraining order against Lester Jones on January 24, exactly one week before to the deadly gunshot. The order compelled him to hand over all firearms and ammunition, barred him from having any contact with her, and required him to maintain a distance of at least one hundred yards from her.

In the petition, it was mentioned that Lester Jones reportedly had “one or more guns” on his possession.

The Bethel Police Department Detective Bureau is actively investigating the incident and there is no threat to the community.
