The public is being told to stay away from East Huron River Drive and Haggerty following a train derailment in Van Buren Township

A train derailment has occurred in Van Buren Township on Thursday morning, and officials are currently responding to the situation.
As part of their investigation into the railroad accident, authorities have requested that residents stay away from the area near Huron River Drive and Haggerty.
The incident has resulted in the closure of both north and southbound traffic as it took place just south of I-94 and west of Belleville.
According to the Van Buren Police Department, the roads will remain closed for a few hours following an unspecified incident.
However, authorities have confirmed that no injuries have been reported and that there is no danger of hazardous materials in the area.
