Damien Williams killed in the shooting at Executive Inn

Police say 20-year-old Damien Williams died of his injuries at the scene. 58-year-old Johnny Lyons was also shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

During this investigation, investigators have identified the 20-year-old male homicide victim as Damien Williams. Williams was located at the scene and pronounced deceased by medical personnel.

During this incident 58-year-old, Johnny Lyons sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Based on the preliminary investigation, there is not an immediate threat to the public reference this incident.

Rocky Mount, N.C.-On Feb. 5, 2023 at approximately 10:30 p.m. the Rocky Mount Police Department responded to The Executive Inn, 1821 N. Wesleyan Blvd. in reference to two men who were injured by gunfire.

Officers located a 20-year-old black man and a 58-year-old black man with injuries from apparent gunshot wounds. The 20-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The 58-year-old was transported to the hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
