Darius Lester injured in an officer-involved shooting in West Virginia
The troopers engaged with Lester and shots were fired to stop the threat.

Captain R.A. Maddy of the West Virginia State Police (WVSP) issued a statement today regarding an officer-involved shooting that occurred around 5:45 a.m. Maddy stated that the WVSP’s Special Response Team (SRT), in collaboration with the FBI, executed a search warrant at the residence of Jeremy Lester for the possession and distribution of child pornography.
Upon entering, a man identified as Darius Lester, 22, from Big Sandy, West Virginia, brandished a hammer and attempted to attack the team members.
The troopers responded by engaging with Lester and firing shots to neutralize the threat.
They provided first aid until the arrival of Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and Lester was subsequently transported to Raleigh General Hospital.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
