Darla Luke has been arrested and charged with the death of her two-month old baby in a Mississippi hotel just days after she regained custody of the child.

The child’s body was discovered on Clinton Center Drive at the Econo Lodge Hotel on Tuesday morning (June 21), at which time the Clinton, Hinds County, police department received a contact to respond.
The management of the hotel told the police that he heard a woman crying from inside a hotel room at approximately ten in the morning. Other nearby residents confirmed to the police that they had also heard screams before calling 911.
Officers discovered the lifeless body of a two-month-old infant inside a room as soon as they arrived at the site.
According to the manager of the hotel, the hotel room had been used as a residence for five individuals, including many children, for the past month and a half.
According to the authorities, Luke was previously charged with the misdemeanor offense of child negligence on June 7. The children were handed back over to her care at some time between June 7 and June 21, the day on which the infant passed away, according to the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services.
The case is still being looked into. Police did not give any more information.
