Police investigation underway after 31 bodies found decomposing at local funeral home

More than 30 remains, some of which were decomposing, were discovered inside a funeral home in Jeffersonville, prompting police in Southern Indiana to launch an investigation.
According to a statement released by Maj. Isaac Parker, the Jeffersonville Police Department dispatched officers to the Lankford Funeral Home and Family Center on Friday night to investigate the incident.
He claimed that the department searched all night and into the next morning and discovered 31 bodies, some of which were “in the advanced stages of decomposition,” along with the post-cremation remains of 16 more victims.
According to Parker’s announcement, the Clark County Coroner’s Office has custody of all the deceased and is collaborating with the police to identify the remains. The coroner’s office at 812-285-6282 is asking anyone who had lately worked with Lankford Funeral Home to get in touch with them.
