At this time, we would want to assure you that there are no problems or concerns at the DeRidder High School.
We’re able to confirm from Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office and Louisiana State Police that reports of an active shooter at Leesville High School and DeRidder High School are a HOAX. LSP has cleared both schools, and the reports appear to be unfounded, resulting from a Robocall.
LSP troopers have been placed at all schools in Vernon and Beauregard Parish just to be sure.
DeRidder City Police and Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies are currently on the scene conducting an investigation and safeguarding the school.
At this time, all of the students are safe and sound, and no one has been injured.
We have reason to suspect that this threat is a hoax or an elaborate fabrication.
Please refrain from going to the schools; there is a lockdown in place and no one is permitted to enter or exit.
We will provide an update at the earliest opportunity.
