Donald McRoberts and Kathy McRoberts found dead inside the residence with multiple gunshot wounds

The Troy Missouri Police Department is mourning the tragic events that took place on March 21, 2023. After responding to a request to check on the residents at 600 Eames Street, lot 18, officers discovered two individuals inside with multiple gunshot wounds, who were unfortunately deceased.
The victims have been identified as Donald McRoberts and Kathy McRoberts, who were active members of the community and worked together with their church to run a food bank for those in need.
Donald was a veteran of the US Army and a beloved member of the Calvary Church. The senseless act of violence has deeply affected everyone involved, and the police department stands with the McRoberts family and all those impacted by this horrific event.
During the investigation, officers learned that several witnesses had heard what sounded like gunfire on March 20, 2023, between 4:30 and 5:30 PM, but none of them reported the incident to law enforcement.
Officers also found a white passenger van parked in the driveway that did not belong to the residents, and it was later discovered that Davionne McRoberts, the victims’ 25-year-old grandson, had been in possession of the van.
After receiving multiple phone calls about Davionne’s whereabouts, detectives located him at Barnes Saint Louis, where he had been transported via ambulance. He was later released from the hospital and taken into custody for an interview.
Davionne was then transported to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and placed on a twenty-four-hour hold pending the application of warrants. The police department requests that the community be patient as this is a complex investigation, and they appreciate the support and information they have received thus far.
The department also believes that this tragedy is isolated and does not believe there is any ongoing danger to the public. They assure the public that they will work tirelessly to bring justice to the victims and their families.
