Dr Anthony Fauci announces plans to retire at the end of Biden’s term in 2025 after leading US Covid response

On Monday, Dr. Anthony Fauci, who serves as the Chief Medical Officer for the President of the United States, discussed his strategy with Politico.

“By the time we get to the conclusion of Biden’s first term, it is very possible that I will (retire),” Fauci remarked as he looked ahead to his retirement in January 2025.

The 81-year-old Dr. Fauci has been providing advice to American presidents starting with Ronald Reagan onward throughout his career in the field of public health in the United States.

However, he was subjected to severe criticism from Republican lawmakers for his response to the Covid pandemic. During that time, he was in charge of the coronavirus response teams for both Joe Biden and Donald Trump, with whom he developed a “interesting relationship” in spite of various conflicts that occurred during his time in office.

Fauci, who was born in Brooklyn, stated that the two of them had “established an interesting bond.”

“Two gentlemen from New York, different in their perspectives and their beliefs, but nevertheless, two individuals who grew up in the same environs of this city,” she said. “Two boys from New York” Regarding that topic, I believe that we are connected to one another.

During the height of the pandemic, Dr. Fauci was a frequent guest on a variety of media outlets, including primetime television, cable news, late-night talk shows, and podcasts, where he provided his expert medical insight on how to combat the virus.

However, over the course of time, he evolved into a figure that was politically contentious on both the left and the right in regard to matters such as masks and lockdown procedures.

His adversaries did not take his advice to get vaccinated, wear masks, and limit their participation in social activities.

According to what Fauci said to Politico, “What I attempt to convince them [of] is that we’re not asking you to significantly alter your lifestyle.” This is the form of communication that Fauci uses.

“We are not asking you to significantly interfere with the decisions you make for your life. We are merely requesting that you take into consideration some straightforward mitigation strategies that are practical.

Because he feels that “we’re going to be dealing with this” for years to come, Fauci stated that he did not anticipate remaining in the government until Covid is eradicated and that this was the reason for his decision.
