Dupo Police Officer shot: 2nd victim died, Suspect found deceased
According to a spokesperson from the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department, the individual responsible for the shooting has been identified, but they have not yet been apprehended.

The suspect was eventually found deceased in his home last night from an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound.

On Sunday evening, Illinois State Police reported that a police officer was shot and suffered serious injuries while a second person was found dead in Dupo, Illinois.
According to Master Sergeant Brad Clossen with the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department, police responded to a residential area in the 700 block of McBride Avenue.
It was reported that the suspected shooter was barricaded inside a nearby home. A large police presence including armored vehicles and emergency medical personnel was on site.
The incident began with a call to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department about a disturbance at a home on McBride, before a Dupo police officer arrived before St. Clair County deputies could arrive, according to a police source.
The officer sustained gunshot wounds to the neck and shoulder and was taken to a St. Louis area hospital for treatment.
The ISP spokesperson stated that a second person was found dead in the area, but no further information has been released.
Although the suspect has been identified, they have not been apprehended yet, said Clossen. The area is considered an active crime scene and residents are advised to stay away.
There is no additional information available at this time, and the situation is still evolving.
