The El Paso Police Department has confirmed that a 23-year-old man named Cesar Roa from the eastern part of El Paso has been arrested and charged with the murder of a 16-year-old girl.
Roa was taken into custody on March 3 and is currently being held at the El Paso County Detention Facility.
In addition to the murder charge, Roa faces five drug-related charges.
On February 16, police found the body of 16-year-old Jasmine Adame in an alley off of Coyote Trail and Apache Point, near Pebble Hills Boulevard in far east El Paso.
She was discovered to have been fatally shot at around 9:30 p.m. Adame’s family has stated that the alley is located roughly five minutes from their residence.
Along with the murder charge, Roa has been charged with three counts of manufacturing or delivering a controlled substance, one count of delivering marijuana, and one count of possessing marijuana.
Court records show that two of the drug offenses were committed on March 1, while the other three took place on March 2. The total bond amount for all six charges is $1,096,000, and as of Friday, Roa remains in custody according to jail records.
Adame’s family has been informed of the arrest, but her stepmother Yvette Villarreal stated that they do not know Roa. It is unclear where Roa was apprehended.
