The incident happened along East Stassney Lane in South Austin.
On Friday, January 6, 2023, at approximately 8:40 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash at the 500 block of E Stassney Ln.
Officers and Austin Travis County Emergency Medical Services arrived and found the driver of the vehicle, Elizabeth Lopez, unresponsive with an apparent gunshot wound. Lopez died on the scene.
Detectives believe someone shot Lopez in an apparent road rage incident.
The suspect left the area immediately after the shooting in a light-colored sedan.
