Evacuation orders issued after fire destroys homes in Hemet
Hemet fire today: California firefighters battle 500-acre blaze with emergency evacuations underway after flames spread

On Monday, a massive brush fire broke out in Hemet, which led to the destruction of nearby homes and the evacuation of parts of the surrounding neighborhood.

Around 3:30 in the afternoon, a fire that became known as the “Fairview Fire” broke out close to the intersection of Fairview Avenue and Bautista Road. As of Monday afternoon at five o’clock, the fire had consumed around 500 acres of land.
As it was suspected that several residences were in danger from the flames, the firefighters called for air tankers and other resources to assist them.
EVACUATION ORDERS
Cal Fire announced an evacuation order has been issued for the following areas:
- South of Thornton Avenue
- North of Polly Butte Road
- West of Fairview Avenue
- East of State Street.
The authorities have not provided a timetable for rescinding the orders to evacuate the area.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated at this time.
