Incident reported at 1503 S Woodland Ave. Firefighters are responding to a 911 report of a kitchen fire.

Police on the scene confirm the building is engulfed in fire and advise they have evacuated the residents from the building. Firefighters are en route.

A 911 caller reported black smoke emanating from the building.

Firefighters advise it is a two-story apartment complex. The fire is possibly extended into the attic area.

Firefighters are searching the premises for anyone who is trapped or injured.

Firefighters are blocking S Woodland Avenue as they battle the fire.

They advised the two floors of the apartment were involved, and additional four units to the south and north of the complex need evacuation. Rescue units are en route.

Firefighters have completed a thorough search on the first floor and are proceeding to the second floor.

Officers are requesting traffic control.

Firefighters are conducting a secondary search and advise that the fire is underneath the porch on the second floor.
