5 shot near Haverford Avenue Shepard Recreation Center in Philadelphia

2 critically wounded in quintuple shooting next to Shepard Recreation Center in West Philadelphia

In the shooting that broke out Tuesday night near Haverford Avenue in West Philadelphia, three people were injured in addition to two young men who were shot in the head, according to the police.

Police said that a drive-by shooting occurred near the Shepard Recreation Center on 57th Street and Haverford Avenue in the Haddington neighborhood, and that it resulted in the shooting of five persons.

It is now unknown what precipitated the incident, which took place at approximately 6:30 p.m.

According to the police, two males were detained in connection with the shooting after they were found inside a white sport utility vehicle that had crashed a short distance away from the incident. It is thought that they were involved in the drive-by shooting that took place outside of the recreation center.

According to the police report, “several rifles and handguns” were discovered inside the SUV.

The only information that was available about the victims was their ages and the severity of their wounds. A male victim aged 17 years old was grazed in the neck, a male victim aged 22 years old was shot once in the right hand, a male victim aged 21 years old was shot once in the head and remains in extremely critical condition, a third male victim aged 21 years old was shot once in the head and remains in extremely critical condition, a male victim aged 25 years old was grazed in the right shoulder, and a male victim aged 25 years old was shot once in the head.
