Paulino Bernal passed away on September 10 at 7:22 surrounded by the family singing How Great Thou Art.

On the 10th of September 2022, accordionist and Christian evangelist Paulino Bernal passed away at the age of 83.

Paulino Bernal was known for playing the accordion. In a statement that was made on their Facebook page, Super Tejano 102 broke the sad news of the passing of Paulino Bernal.

They wrote, “It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of an amazing trailblazing accordionist Paulino Bernal, from the well known Conjunto Bernal. Paulino was born June 22, 1939. He had a long musical career and a long list of hits with Conjunto Bernal. Eventually he became a very well known and loved Christian Evangelist. Paulino passed at 7:22 surrounded by the family singing How Great Thou Art. May he Rest in Heavenly Peace“.

According to several reports, Bernal owned and ran more than a dozen Spanish-language Christian radio stations in the state of Texas.

These stations carried a programming schedule that was fed by satellite. “El Maestro Del Acordeon Y Sus Polkas,” a new CD of polkas by Paulino, was published in 2008 on Urbana Records.

The CD was produced by Armando Lichtenberger Jr., who had previously won a Grammy for his work as a producer. According to the sources, he was recognized with his first Grammy Nomination for Best Polka Album for the 51st Annual Grammy Awards.

Skip Espinoza paid tribute on Facebook, ” Our sincere and hart felt condolences to his immediate family. May they find comfort in knowing that Paulino is at rest. May they understand that we will see meet him again in that bright and glorious morning”.

Jay Villarreal wrote, “It’s with a heavy to say my Father In-Law Paulino Bernal has gone to be with the Lord My father in law touched the lives of a lot of people, mine included. I’m so glad that I’ve had a chance to get to know him, and I’m heartbroken that my mentor gone. Please keep the Bernal family on your prayers”.
