Former Kansas Jayhawks Goalie Regan Noelle Gibbs dead at 25

THE husband of former Kansas Jayhawks Goalie Regan Noelle Gibbs, Chad Marek has been charged with the ex-college athlete’s death, claiming “God told him to kill her”.

Police responded to a 911 call at the home of former Jayhawks star Sheryl Swoopes on Monday evening, where they found a mortally wounded Gibbs and her husband Chad Marek, 26.

Officials with the Lawrence Police Department pronounced Gibbs dead at the scene of what they are investigating as a domestic violence episode.

Just before 7:30 p.m., the incident was reported.

Chad Joseph Marek, 26, of Lawrence was arrested at the scene for Gibbs’ murder, according to officials.

The LPD says Marek and Gibbs were married and is investigating the possibility that domestic violence played a role in their deaths.

Gibbs was a goalkeeper for the University of Kansas women’s soccer team during the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 seasons. Gibbs is from Naches, Washington, according to the 2017-2018 Women’s Soccer Roster. She was officially a Lawrence resident for the past six months.
