Fourth-grader found with loaded gun at Erwin Elementary School
Erwin police secured a fourth-grade student after a loaded gun was found in his possession at Erwin Elementary School Friday.

On Friday, a fourth-grade student at Erwin Elementary School was found with a loaded gun, and the Erwin police took action to ensure the safety of everyone on the premises.
Upon being notified by the school’s administration and the school resource officer, the police quickly located the student with the firearm in their backpack.
Despite the loaded gun, authorities were able to secure the weapon and there is no immediate danger to others.
The school informed parents about the incident on Friday afternoon.
