Gabby Petito’s family has sued the Moab City Police Department for $50 million, saying that the officers “failed to protect” the van-life blogger during a domestic violence call weeks before she was killed.

Gabby Petito’s family filed a $50 million wrongful death lawsuit against Utah police on Monday, stating that detectives investigating a quarrel between Gabby and her boyfriend last year failed to identify that their daughter was in a life-threatening condition.
The claim contends that on August 12, 2021, authorities in the tourist town of Moab failed to recognize that the 22-year-old woman was a victim of domestic violence at the hands of her boyfriend, Brian Laundrie.
After asking them to spend a night apart, the cops permitted the pair to depart.
The altercation occurred mere weeks before Laundrie murdered Petito as they resumed their cross-country journey in a van.
