Hoax active shooter call at Gering High School
Gering Police respond to what turned out to be a hoax call for a shooter at Gering High School. Capt. Jason Rogers shared this update with parents shortly around 9:15 a.m.

At approximately 8:30am this morning, a Google-generated number called police dispatch to report an emergency at Gering High School.
Law enforcement was dispatched to the district immediately, and the district crisis plan procedures were put in place.
Police performed walk-throughs at all GHS buildings and determined that the call was a hoax.
Although this report was a hoax, all Gering Public Schools will remain in elevated security throughout the remainder of today.
School have activated the Crisis Response Team to Gering High School and members will be available to meet with students and staff who need support in processing the events.
This is a developing story that will be updated when more information is available.
