One of the six victims of a Fourth of July parade shooting in a wealthy Chicago neighborhood has been named by a grieving family as their beloved grandfather.

Nicholas Toledo was killed on Monday when a gunman, who has yet to be apprehended, opened fire on a parade in Highland Park, Illinois, from the roof of an outdoor outfitting business. Nicholas was one of the people who was slain.

Everyone here has a numb feeling right now. We’re all really shattered inside,’ Toledo’s granddaughter said in an interview with FOX3.

After the march had been underway for fewer than 15 minutes, the shooting started. The parade claimed the lives of five persons, while a sixth victim passed away later in the hospital.

24 other people are receiving medical attention for injuries at a nearby hospital.

A shooter between the ages of 18 and 20 used a ladder to go to a roof overlooking the parade early on Monday, when he then started firing a “high-powered rifle,” according to police.

According to Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek, five persons perished at the site and a sixth succumbed to their wounds after being taken to the hospital.

According to the reports of the police, at least one youngster was wounded and rushed to the hospital in critical condition, while a large number of other persons had gunshot wounds to their abdomens and limbs.
