On Saturday, an active shooter situation was reported at an outdoor outlet mall in Allen, Texas, and law enforcement is currently investigating the incident.
During a press conference, officials confirmed that the Allen fire department had taken nine individuals to a medical facility, but it’s possible that other victims were transported in private vehicles.
Police at the scene stated that children were among the victims.
Medical City Healthcare, a hospital system located in the Dallas area, stated in a written release that eight individuals between the ages of 5 and 61 were receiving treatment at their facilities.
The condition of the patients was not provided.
According to law enforcement officials, the police were able to confront and shoot the suspect.
The officer involved acted against the perpetrator and eliminated the danger. The officer then requested immediate medical assistance.
The Allen Fire Department transported nine victims to nearby hospitals, according to a Facebook post from the agency, which also stated that there was no longer an active threat.
CNN has reported that a search is ongoing for a possible second suspect.
The Collin County Sheriff stated that the shooter is deceased.
After receiving reports of gunfire around 3:40 p.m., the Allen police initiated an investigation into the shooting, as confirmed by a police dispatcher.
