Greenleaf Friends Academy math teacher and coach, Loma Bittick, killed in a car accident
Loma was in a serious automobile accident last evening along with her husband, Jim. Jim is in the hospital in stable condition at this time.

Greenleaf Friends Academy is grieving the passing of a beloved coach who died in a car accident on Thursday, just before her team’s district championship game.
Coach Loma Bittick, who was in charge of the school’s girls basketball and volleyball teams, suffered fatal injuries in the crash, according to a statement from the school on their Facebook page.
Her husband, Jim Bittick, who co-coached the basketball team with her, was also involved in the crash and is currently in stable condition at the hospital.
The school expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of support and prayers from the students, faculty, staff, and the wider Greenleaf Friends Academy community.
They emphasized that in times like these, the Greenleaf community comes together, supports each other, and honors their Lord Jesus Christ through their fellowship.
In addition to being a coach, Loma Bittick was a math teacher at Greenleaf Friends Academy.
Due to her tragic passing, Thursday’s 1A Division I District III championship game between Greenleaf and Liberty Charter was cancelled and both teams were declared co-district champions. Classes at Greenleaf were cancelled on Friday, as well as a scheduled boys basketball game against Rimrock.
Loma Bittick’s girls basketball team made history by qualifying for the 1A Division I State Tournament for the first time since 2009 after defeating Rimrock 37-22 in the district semifinals. Loma Bittick also led the school’s volleyball team to the state tournament in the fall.
