Hampton Roads rapper Dyamond Hamilton found shot to death in her apartment

The family of Dyamond Hamilton, a Hampton Roads native and rapper who was fatally shot in Las Vegas, is seeking community assistance to raise funds to bring her body back home for a funeral.

Known as 90 Splitz, Hamilton moved to Las Vegas last year to pursue her music career, and had recently signed on to do a reality show with Ray J for MTV.

She attended Lake Taylor High School in Norfolk and had played basketball all her life.

Her mother, Monique Hamilton, said that her daughter had a big heart, and she cannot believe that someone would harm her in such a way.

According to the Las Vegas Metro Police Department, Dyamond was discovered shot to death in her apartment located west of the Strip at around 2 a.m. last Thursday.

Virgil Mack, her 28-year-old roommate, has been charged in connection with her death.

A witness informed the officers that Dyamond and Mack had a fight before the shooting, and Dyamond asked Mack to leave.

However, instead of leaving, Mack chose to shoot her. Her mother, Monique Hamilton, said, “He shot at her 22 times, put 17 bullets into my baby, and she was only 110 pounds. I can’t comprehend why he didn’t just pack up and go.”

According to her mother, Dyamond had planned to fly back home to Norfolk on March 3, the day after she was killed. Monique Hamilton wishes she could have hugged her daughter one last time, but her life was taken away from her.

“He robbed me of all of that with my child,” Monique Hamilton said. She will probably never get an answer to why her daughter was killed in such a brutal manner.

However, she finds solace in the fact that she can still listen to Dyamond’s voice and watch her pursue her passion through her music videos.

“It is a great relief that I can still see her through her music videos whenever I want to,” said Monique Hamilton. Despite this, she is still in need of funds to transport Dyamond’s body back home.

While there is a victim’s fund in Vegas, it could take several months to bring her home to Norfolk. Hamilton hopes that the funds raised through their GoFundMe campaign will help them bring her back in time for her funeral next week.”
