Harry Potter and Cracker actor Robbie Coltrane has died aged 72, his agent Belinda Wright has said.

Following the actor’s passing on Friday, tributes to his work in Harry Potter and Cracker have been pouring in.

His agent, Belinda Wright, remarked, “Robbie was a one-of-a-kind talent. He shared the Guinness Book of Records’ Award for winning three consecutive Best Actor Baftas with Sir Michael Gambon for his portrayal of Fitz in Granada TV’s series Cracker in 1994, 1995, and 1996.” Cracker was broadcast on Granada TV in 1994, 1995, and 1996.

“He will probably be best remembered for decades to come for his role as Hagrid in the Harry Potter movies. This role brought joy to children and adults all over the world and has led to a steady stream of fan letters every week for over 20 years.”

She also said, “James Bond fans write to praise his roles in GoldenEye and The World Is Not Enough.”

“I will remember him as a customer who was always loyal to me.

“Not only was he a great actor, but he was also very smart and funny. After 40 years of being proud to be his agent, I will miss him.”

Coltrane became famous all over the world for playing Rubeus Hagrid in the Harry Potter movies and Valentin Dmitrovich Zukovsky in GoldenEye and The World Is Not Enough.

Queen Elizabeth II gave him an OBE in the New Year’s Honours of 2006 for his work in theater.
