Haywood County police arrested Kevion Davis and Bishop Owens in connection with the murder of Christine Michael

On February 11, 2023, at approximately 5 pm, Haywood County Sheriff Investigators and Deputies arrested Kevion Davis, age 18, of 668 Bell St in Brownsville in connection with the murder of Christine Michael on February 10th.

Davis has been booked in the Haywood County Jail with no bond and held on 1st Degree Murder charges.

On this same date, at approximately 6:30pm, Haywood County Sheriff Investigators and Deputies, along with the assistance of the Brownsville Police Department, arrested Bishop Owens, age 16, of 962 Scott Street in Brownsville in connection with the murder of Christine Michael on February 10th.

Owens will be held in detention by juvenile court officials for 1st Degree Murder. He also has no bond.

This death of Christine Michael occurred on February 10, 2023, while she was traveling towards Brownsville on Highway 19 with three other teens who had just left the Haywood v Ripley basketball game in Ripley.

The vehicle she was occupying was struck multiple times by gunfire. One round entered the vehicle through the trunk and struck Michael in her lower back while she was seated in the rear seat.

Additional charges of 3 counts of attempt First Degree Murder will be sought on each defendant.
