Lockdown lifted at Callaway High School, following ‘threatening’ phone call

Dozens of parents are at Callaway High School to pick up their child after receiving texts that there was an active shooter at the school.

Officials with Jackson Public Schools have stated that there was not a shooter present at Callaway High School when classes started on Thursday morning.

Statement from Callaway High School: There IS NOT an active shooter at Callaway High School. We did, however, receive a threating phone call this morning. As a precautionary measure, our school was placed on a temporary lockdown. All scholars and staff are safe inside our school building. We are moving forward with the instructional school day.

Callaway High School was placed on a precautionary lockdown after a “threatening phone call,” according to Jackson Public Schools.

Students and staff are safe.

There is no official word from Jackson Police on exactly what happened just yet.

According to a parent, she got a text from her son saying there’s an active shooter on campus, come get me.

Nothing has been sent out by JPS.

We spoke with one student who said she witnessed the school security chasing down someone with a gun.
