Hernando County deputies searching for Steve Roosa

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office has requested that residents steer clear of the area due to the report of an active shooter in Brooksville.

Law enforcement officials have increased their presence in the vicinity of Erma Road and Star Road and have advised people to refrain from venturing into the area while the deputies handle the situation.

In a Facebook post, the sheriff’s office indicated that the shooter was a white male sporting a blue shirt, blue jeans, and an unshaven face.

Deputies have advised residents to remain inside their homes unless directed by law enforcement officers to relocate, as the man is believed to be in possession of multiple firearms.

HCFR crews dispatched to Structure fire are staged due to an Active Shooter situation area of Erma Rd and Star Rd. All media inquiries are directed to Hernando Sheriff’s Office.
